Dragon’s Den – #MillionCoppers

Dragon’s Den – #MillionCoppers

I was invited to be a Dragon for The Princes Trust recently, judging investments for fund raising ideas.

This one is brilliant, demonstrating Simplicity, a Snappy Strap-Line & Self-Deprecation in 2 words!

With a target of £10,000 and having worked out that’s 1 million pennies, Detective Sergeant Peter Russell and team’s idea is #MillionCoppers.

They’re placing buckets in each Merseyside police station and are urging officers and staff to bring in all those coppers (copper’s coppers!) lying around at home, in a drawer, down the back of the sofa and donate them to The Princes Trust.

I think this deserves to go nationwide…who hasn’t got a jar or drawer full of coppers they’d willingly donate to such a worthwhile charity.

If you feel you’d like to donate it’s www.justgiving.com/fundraising/millioncoppers or enter their raffle at  www.justgiving.com/fundraising/merseysidepolicemillionmakers .

Here is the announcement from Merseyside Police:

Merseyside Police is pledging to raise £10,000 for the Prince’s Trust, to help disadvantaged young people in the local community.

#Millioncoppers launched Monday, 2 July, with buckets placed across the force, in police stations, offices and enquiry officers, where people can donate their pennies.

Organiser, Detective Sergeant Peter Russell explained: “We worked out that 1 million pennies is £10,000, so to help reach our target we’re urging officers and staff across Merseyside to bring in all those pennies lying around at home, in a drawer, down the back of the sofa and donate their spare change.

“The Princes Trust is a fantastic charity and in Merseyside they help disadvantaged young people in our area change their lives, get into work, education or training, which I know we are all keen to support. In this case every penny really does count.”

This is the first step to raising the £10,000 target, with other initiatives launching later this year. To lend your support to this worthwhile charity, you can enter a raffle, with some great prizes, via www.justgiving.com/fundraising/merseysidepolicemillionmakers #Millioncoppers
